Model Rail/rapido Trains ‘J70’ passes its first milestone as Class B gets the nod.

The wheels have started to turn on Model Rail/rapido Trains’ Project J70 with this, the initial computer artwork. Rapido Product Developer Bill Schneider has created this artwork using works drawings from the National Railway Museum, as well as a host of prototype photographs. Rapido’s engineers in China will use this artwork to produce the CAD from which the tooling will be produced. During this stage, the precise details about the mechanism, the location of the DCC socket and NEM coupler pockets will be confirmed. At this stage, we are pleased to confirm that the model will be available with and without sideplates and that modellers will be able to have the end doors either opened or closed. Liveries and running numbers will be confirmed once the CAD artwork is complete, and when we know what is and what isn’t possible. Then we’ll be able to open the order book.
