COAL BOARD SIGNAGE

-

Modellers with an interest in collieries will be delighted by these packs from Sankey Scenics, offering a range of essential signage for collieries and coal depots across three key eras of post-war UK coal production. Available in 2, 4 and 7mm scales, the packs are targeted at the immediate nationalised period, from 1947 to the late 1960s, with traditional National Coal Board branding and Victorian-style lettering. The abbreviated NCB era is also covered, with emotive ‘Coal not Dole’ graffiti for the tumultuous 1970-80s period. Finally, the British Coal corporate identity of the 1990s is not overlooked. Each pack provides a handful of location signs, featuring a generic-sounding ‘North Side Colliery’, along with all necessary utility signage, for offices, stores, winding house, bath houses and the like. There are also plenty of warning signs, directions, clock faces and instructions for road and rail vehicles, all rendered in era-specific typefaces and styles. Printed crisply on good quality paper, they simply require cutting out with a sharp scalpel, the white edges touched in with an ink pen and securing to walls or signposts. Great stuff!
