FERRY WAGON DECALS

Having carved out a niche for itself in the market for Train Ferry-related rolling stock kits and accessories, MARC Models has released a new set of waterslide decals aimed at wagons in the Société Belgo-anglaise des Ferry-boats fleet. Hired by the LNER for use on continental traffic flows of perishable or fragile goods, where transshipment would be undesirable, a small fleet of RCH seven-plank opens was modified for European transit via the Harwich train ferry. The pack contains all necessary brandings and numbers for one complete open wagon. Performing faultlessly under test, each legend has to be cut carefully from the sheet, and each transfer happily conformed to the undulations of the surface, with the aid of Micro Sol decal setting solution. Although I only had a nine-plank wagon to hand on which to test the transfers, they clearly look the part and match prototype images very closely. Incidentally, I employed Tamiya XF19 Sky Grey as the livery shade, which appears to be a close match.
