IN THE PIPELINE

An elevated discharge pipe runs across the breadth of the layout, and had to be entirely scratch-built. Paul used fittings from Knight-wing Models and Plas-truct, but the piping itself was styrene strip from Evergreen Scale Models. Paul explains how he sidestepped a problem: “The Evergreen strip that I ordered included tubes of varying diameters. So, starting from the right-hand side, the diameter of the piping slowly increases. Look at the left-hand side and the difference is relatively sizeable. However, the transformation is so gradual and over a long enough length that it isn’t noticeable.”
