OSBORN’S TO THE RESCUE…

-

The success of any slate quarry layout will depend on your ability to recreate the distinctive slate quarry surroundings. I wanted to make an incline on a slate embankment, but how on earth could I make it? There’s nothing commercially available… I knew that Osborn’s Models of Bideford undertakes commissions for laser-cut items. Could it help? Osborn’s offers a great range of very useful laser-cut accessories and also specialises in bespoke work. I gave them a call, briefed them on what I needed, and shortly after that I received a sheet of self-coloured foam that looked just like a slate embankment. Perfect! The foam was easy to work with, and it was easy to glue to insulation foam with Deluxe Materials’ new Fix ‘n’ Flex, a clear adhesive. The slate foam easily accepted Woodland Scenics Foam Nails, and took scatters and grasses well too. Of course, ordering a bespoke product will cost money, and how much you pay will depend on the complexity of what you have specified. However, if you have a modelling problem, and if no-one else can help, it’s worth giving Osborn’s a call. Contact: Osborn’s Models. Tel: 01237 423453. Web: www.osbornsmodels.com
