SMOOTH OPERATION
The kit’s main weaknesses are moulding flash lines and release slopes, top and bottom, along the full length of both girders. The accompanying photos show the method for cleaning and squaring up all edges, and demonstrate the clear benefit, in terms of appearance, for gluing girders squarely to the deck. Note the rear section is untreated, whereas the foreground section has been ‘sanded’ using medium grade wet and dry paper, without water. I usually work through several grades of paper, from coarse to very fine, to achieve a smooth surface.
