LEAF IT

The very fine trees are all scratchbuilt, using the twisted wire armature method. Each tree was covered in masking tape and then, what Alan refers to as ‘clay slurry’ (a slushy mixture of clay and PVA glue), was layered on top. The addition of PVA glue helps the clay both adhere to the wire armature and remain flexible. Once cured, the trees could be painted, with various scatter materials layered over a wire wool frame, to represent leaf cover.
