Although no longer in production, the Vitrains Class 47 can still be found in some model shops and, particularly, on the pre-owned market. Offering a cheaper alternative to the Bachmann model (albeit with a lower specification), it’s ideal for practising stripping and repainting, and there’s less financial risk!
