George’s suggested upgrade: While Hornby’s ‘high-spec’ version is impressive, the ex-lima Railroad model offers excellent value and plenty of potential. It needs quite a bit of work though! See MR176 for a full description.

Ben’s suggested upgrade: If Graham Farish’s planned refurbished Class 31 (MR231) is as good as the original batch (MR207), it won’t need much improvement. However, some weathering should enhance the detail and you can always use Fox Transfers decals to change the sector logos.
