Buyer beware – ‘Mazak Rot’

Be careful when buying a second-hand Hornby ‘31’. Avoid any of the earliest batches that featured inferior alloy chassis that have since expanded and fractured, leading to burst plastic bodyshells. I’ve discovered that two of my models have this affliction and I have yet to try and salvage them – another project for the future!
