Any layout that pushes the boundary of our interest is always an exciting prospect. In 3mm:1ft scale, Peter Bossom clearly shows the space benefit of this lesser known and less well-supported scale, and he does so with great panache. Although the layout represents a prototype, the composition is largely fictional. As such, Peter’s ability to group buildings in an aesthetically pleasing manner and contain the viewer’s eye with effective view blocking holds lessons for us all. Peter’s work reminds me that in all my time as a layout designer, I’ve never produced a layout design in this or associated scales, particularly ‘TT’. I certainly hope to rectify this in due course, and Peter’s work is certainly an inspiration.
