HAPPY BIRTHDAY MODEL RAIL!

It’s said that one sign of getting old is when police officers start to seem young. Something similar could be implied when magazines start celebrating milestone anniversaries and you remember when they were launched. I find it difficult to believe that Model Rail is 20. It seems even more incredible when you consider that it has only had three (albeit amazing) editors – Chris Leigh, Ben Jones and now Richard Foster, who has developed and evolved the magazine even further. Over the last 20 years Model Rail has been at the forefront of the model railway industry, pushing boundaries and exploring new ways to encourage modellers to increase their skills. During my years at Hornby I was very keen to encourage newcomers into the hobby. Model Rail was too, and it continues to promote modelling with energy and enthusiasm. Whether it’s via supplements or even the amazing Model Rail Live exhibitions, it all goes to prove that the magazine cares not only for the present but also the future of the hobby, and long may this continue.
