iwata accessories

George Dent tests a trio of airbrush accessories.

A trio of essential airbrush accessories has been released by Iwata. Firstly, a handy spray-out pot, with innovative non-slip sleeve, provides a safe receptacle for excess paint and contaminated thinners. Simply insert the nozzle of the airbrush into the opening and spray: the jar captures all fluids and a small filter in the lid intercepts noxious fumes, making for a healthier working environment. Additionally, the pot includes a handy airbrush hanger, which holds most styles of airbrush safely between painting jobs. The glass jar is easily cleaned (it’s dishwasher safe) and a couple of spare filters are provided. For more secure storage of up to two airbrushes during use, a universal holder is also available. Fully adjustable and capable of holding virtually any design of airbrush – including pistol-triggered types – the holder features a screw clamp for fixing to the workbench. There’s also a bracket for securing the spray-out pot mentioned above, creating a one-stop airbrush storage and cleaning station. Finally, a new and improved formula of lubricating gel offers a non-toxic, silicone-free medium to help keep your airbrush in tip-top condition. Simply apply a small blob to the needle after every clean-out to keep things moving smoothly and prevent clogging. A drop of lube on the trigger and air valve at regular intervals will also prove worthwhile. The gel does not react with paints and this 10ml tube will last for years.
