FOAM SHEETS

Foam Sheets are available in six thicknesses, from ¼in to 4in. Each measures 1ft by 2ft and you usually get two in a pack. These sheets are perfect for the baseboard’s base and I used eight packs of the 2in thick ones.

Price: £15.00 each PROFILE BOARDS

Profile boards are so named because they can be shaped to form outer contours of the layout’s landscape. They’re shaped so that they can fit together on the corner of layout to make a good positive join. However, they can also be used to form the foundation for the scenery. Each pack contains two profile boards and two connectors.

Price: £14.00 each RISERS

The high-density foam risers are used to elevate track above the baseboard level. They are sold in heights of ½in, ¾in, 1in, 2in and 4in and, of course, can be used together so that a 1in piece topped by a 2in piece will raise the track level by 3in. Risers can be used to create embankments or to carry the track through an area of mountains and valleys and they’re flexible to bend round curves. Each riser is 2in wide and 2ft long and you get four pieces per pack.

INCLINES

The term ‘riser’ is a little misleading, for these pieces keep the track at a consistent level. It’s the incline sections that rise and fall! Risers can be used in conjunction with the incline pieces to create a section of raised track with inclines up and down to the main baseboard level. There are four different gradient profiles but I didn’t use any incline pieces on this layout.
