Builder: Allen Pearson

Gauge & scale: 2mm:1ft scale, 9mm gauge ‘N’

Size: 3m by 2.3m

Whether you intend to ride on it or just watch trains, a visit to the Settle & Carlisle is a must for any enthusiast and the highlight is crossing Bridge 66, more correctly known as Batty Moss Viaduct, but more famously called Ribbehead Viaduct. It’s not the highest nor the longest railway viaduct in Britain, but it’s probably the most impressive, sitting as it does in the shadow of Ingleborough and Whernside. There’s no artistry in its construction as those huge blocks of masonry, hewn from the landscape, are purely functional and match the bleak beauty of the location.
