DAPOL WAGON UPDATE

-

Dapol has shared updated provisional artwork of its upcoming ‘O’ gauge VEA and Vanwide 12t goods vans. The first engineering prototypes were revealed in December 2020 and the design team has since been providing feedback to the factory, ensuring that the models are as accurate as possible when they reach shelves in Q2-Q3 2021. Pre-orders are already available for these models with an RRP of £58.59.

Dapol has also shared details of its new ‘O’ gauge HBA and HEA wagons, following the success of the HAA model which was released in 2019. The prototype 32.5t HBA was unveiled at Shildon Works in 1975 and was fitted with manually operating discharge doors. An order for 2,000 wagons was placed to transport other coal traffic and two small changes to the design were made in the process. The position of the ladders at each end were moved and Bruninghaus springs were fitted to later builds, increasing the maximum speed by 15mph. Earlier wagons had these features retrofitted and were given the TOPS code of HEA to distinguish them.

The Dapol model will feature a die-cast chassis, injection-moulded hopper body, sprung metal buffers and separately added fine details. Currently, the CAD work is being
