Groove is at the heart of Wayne Snow. The Berlinbased, Nigerian debutant shares a skewed take on R&B, jazz and house with his producer Max Graef that permits his Prince-like falsetto to gently run amok over the squelchy soul of Drunk and rugged, Dilla-esque drums of Red Runner. “I’ve got the rhythm for you,” he asserts repeatedly on Rhythm, the sound of a gauntlet being thrown.
