WHAT HAPPENED TO RICK WRIGHT’S OTHER HALF?

-

I recently found a copy of so-’80s synthpop album Identity by the duo Zee. We all know about one member, Rick Wright, but what of the other half, Dave Harris? Vincent Prieux, France

Fred says: Singer-composer-guitarist Dave (Dee) Harris was part of the Fashion line-up that recorded Fabrique, a Top 10 album in 1982. After recording the Zee album with Richard Wright, he worked with artists linked to Prince’s Paisley Park and from 1986 onward, as a songwriter and producer, before spending 1997-2000 in Rio De Janeiro. As well as working with John Baxter of Re-Flex, he says he’s, “Looking forward to remixing and re-recording certain tracks from the Zee album, with a view to a digital release of the original album as it stands plus a separated album of reworked songs from Identity, using Rick’s recorded work from 1984. This will involve certain old friends of mine… I can’t reveal anything else at this stage, only to promise that the new tracks will shine with Rick’s posthumous involvement.”
