Fuzzy Haskins
I’ve Got My Thang Together: The Westbound Years
WESTBOUND. CD/DL A key player in Parliament/ Funkadelic; with first-timeon-CD 12-inch single mixes. Westbound reissued Fuzzy Haskins’ two solo albums – 1976’s A Whole Nother Thang and 1978’s Radio Active – as a twofer in 1994. Longsince deleted, this 16-track selection is the next best thing. Haskins sang with The Parliaments from 1960, and aided George Clinton with his group’s transition to Funkadelic; writing, singing and playing guitar and drums during their 1970-76 prime. On going solo, he recruited P-Funk cohorts Bernie Worrell, Bootsy Collins, Gary Shider, Tiki Fulwood and Cordell ‘Boogie’ Mosson, and added to the P-Funk myth-scape with social conscience funk (the admirable Mr Junk Man), space age instrumentals (an infectious Gettin’ It Off), rock’n’soulful ballads (an intoxicating Cookie Jar) and futuristic groove (the Clintonsniping Which Way Do I Disco).
