How my tips have fared
It has been another mixed fortnight for my nine long tips, with four rising and the other five declining. Computer-services firm Computacenter advanced from 2,923p to 2,930p. Moonpig, which sells greeting cards and gifts online, rose from 159p to 169p and US constructionsupplier Builders FirstSource increased from 189p to 195p.
Trading platform firm IG Group also went up, from 707p to 732p. However, kitchen-supplier Howden Joinery fell from 856p to 849p, carmaker General Motors went down from $40.93 to $40.82 and budget airline easyJet dipped from 550p to 528p.
Recruiter SThree also declined – from 421p to 414p – while SSP, which operates food and drink concessions in airports and train stations, dropped from 217p to 214p. Overall, my long tips are now making total profits of £1,444, up from £1,416.
My short tips put in a good performance, with three moving in my favour and only one against me. Solar-energy company Sunrun fell from $11.70 to $10.33 and air-taxi firm Joby Aviation slipped from $5.36 to $5.12. Video-game retail chain GameStop also went down, from $14.99 to $14.24. Payroll-technology provider Paycom was the only one that bucked the trend, rising from $178 to $192. Overall, my short tips are making a profit of £2,099.
My combined long and short positions are making profits of £3,543. I suggest that you take profits of £666 on Computacenter, as the recommendation is almost a year old. This means that I now have nine long tips (Howden Joinery, SThree, easyJet, Moonpig, SSP, IG Group, General Motors, Builders FirstSource and Rolls-Royce).
There are four open short positions (Paycom, Sunrun, GameStop and Joby Aviation). I suggest you raise the stop-loss on easyJet to 350p (from the current 300p), and increase the stop-loss on Howden Joinery to 700p (from 600p). Furthermore, I recommend cutting the price at which you cover Paycom to $200 from $225.
