Combe to hail Bath’s RAC days
The Castle Combe Rallyday in September will celebrate the 30th and 40th anniversaries of the Lombard RAC Rally starting in nearby Bath.
Bath was the event’s host town in 1976 and 1986 and the ’86 event featured a spectator stage at the Wiltshire track. To mark the anniversaries, the 16th Rallyday, which takes place on Saturday September 24, will include cars from the two RAC Rallies, including some Group B cars.
The 1986 event was the last major European rally of the Group B era.
In addition to Saturday’s action on the 3.7-mile special stage, an informal gathering will be held on Friday evening for those people involved in the two rallies and Bath’s part in the event’s history.
