One-off events for England in new Fiesta

-

Martyn England has said that Irish events and one-offs are the target with his newly purchased Ford Fiesta R5 two-litre.

England – the first customer of the new M-sport-built car in the UK – won’t commit to any championships in the immediate future.

“We will compete on the events we like in the south west rather than do events just because they are in a championship,” explained England. “Dawn [England, Martyn’s wife and co-driver] is also keen to try some Tarmac rallying in Ireland, so we will look at doing something there as well.”

England made the switch to the Fiesta after 12 years driving Mitsubishi Lancer Evos with a debut on the Caerwent Stages last weekend. The duo set fastest times on the opening two stages, enabling them to open up an early lead. Unfortunately, some brake issues and a damaged compression strut forced them out of the event after four of the six stages at the demanding MOD venue.
