Karter Oram-jones joins Ford Fiesta field

Karting graduate Samuel OramJones will contest his first full season of car racing after stepping up to the BRSCC Ford Fiesta Championship this year.

Oram-jones, 18, handled a twolitre Fiesta ST model for the 23 Racing team in the opening rounds at Snetterton last weekend. A blown engine on Friday necessitated an overnight change, and continued power issues restricted him to a best finish of eighth.

The Milton Keynes-based driver has experience from racing karts in the UK, Europe and South America. He has also competed in the WSK Euro Series and CIK FIA series.

He hasn’t raced for a year due to his studies. His last outing was in Formula Renault BARC in ’14.

Oram-jones said: “We made a jump in both races and just need another for the next round. It was my first time in a front-wheel-drive race car and it is very different to anything I have driven before.”
