Ex-bri­tish GT4 man looks to clas­sic MG

For­mer Bri­tish GT4 fron­trun­ner De­clan Jones will move into his­toric rac­ing this year with a 1964 MGB Road­ster.

Jones, 20, from Liver­pool, plans to race the ex-works MGB – once raced by Rob Shel­lard – in se­lected his­toric events across the course of the sea­son, in­clud­ing the HSCC Gold Cup at Oul­ton Park and the sup­port races at the Spa 6 Hours. Jones is also aim­ing to com­pete at the Sil­ver­stone Clas­sic in July.

Jones fin­ished as run­ner-up in the Bri­tish GT4 points in 2013, hav­ing claimed three race wins in a Cen­tury Mo­tor­sport-run Ginetta G55 along­side Zoe Wen­ham.

He said: “I’m re­ally look­ing for­ward to get­ting back out rac­ing again and the his­toric rac­ing world seems to be boom­ing. It’s go­ing to be great fun to drive the MGB and I can’t wait to just get out and race.”

Jones is also work­ing to fi­nalise plans to con­tinue in mod­ern sportscar rac­ing this sea­son.
