Ex-british GT4 man looks to classic MG
Former British GT4 frontrunner Declan Jones will move into historic racing this year with a 1964 MGB Roadster.
Jones, 20, from Liverpool, plans to race the ex-works MGB – once raced by Rob Shellard – in selected historic events across the course of the season, including the HSCC Gold Cup at Oulton Park and the support races at the Spa 6 Hours. Jones is also aiming to compete at the Silverstone Classic in July.
Jones finished as runner-up in the British GT4 points in 2013, having claimed three race wins in a Century Motorsport-run Ginetta G55 alongside Zoe Wenham.
He said: “I’m really looking forward to getting back out racing again and the historic racing world seems to be booming. It’s going to be great fun to drive the MGB and I can’t wait to just get out and race.”
Jones is also working to finalise plans to continue in modern sportscar racing this season.
