Fisher’s Fiesta ready for Circuit attack
Irish Tarmac Championship frontrunner Alastair Fisher has his Ford Fiesta R5 ready for the Circuit of Ireland after a crash on the West Cork Rally.
Fisher has been the closest driver to ITRC leader Keith Cronin in the first two rounds of the championship’s new era.
“We haven’t had too many issues getting it ready,” said Fisher. “[In the crash] we hit the front left. We were slightly late on the brakes and hit a bump, which didn’t help.”
Fisher – nephew of Irish Tarmac legend Bertie – is not competing in the British championship like Cronin, so has his eyes firmly set on the West Cork driver and maximum ITRC points.
“We have to have the championship in mind. Yes we’ll be keeping Keith in our sights but he’ll be close to the front anyway,” he said.
