Giddings run close but takes Gwynnespeed honours

James Giddings won the Gwynnespeed Challenge at Down Ampney, but was pushed hard by two newcomers.

Charlie Robinson went fastest on stages two to five, but a stage maximum on the sixth thanks to a broken gear linkage put them out.

Gwynnespeed mechanic and former-m-sport man Mat Wheeler went fastest on the first test in his first competitive run in the series and new car, but Giddings and Dan Johnson pushed hard in the afternoon to go fastest on the five remaining tests of the day after service. Ryan Gibson and Craig Simkiss rounded out the podium behind Wheeler and co-driver Hannah Mckillop.
