Quinn secures maiden single-seater win
Ford MSA Formula rookie driver Alex Quinn secured his maiden car racing win at Donington Park last weekend, in only his fourth race.
The 15-year-old Fortec Motorsports driver claimed a lights-to-flag victory in the opening race in Leicestershire having started on pole position, despite a hailstorm just before the start of the race creating difficult conditions.
“That was amazing to take my first win,” said the Racing Steps Foundation-backed driver. “It was really tough with the weather changing and I was a bit nervous. But I was quick in testing and that gave me a confidence boost.”
Fortec boss Richard Dutton added: “It was very impressive considering it was only his second weekend in cars.”
Quinn was one of the drivers involved in an incident in a chaotic second race and was sixth in race three. He is sixth in the points and leads the rookies.
