Furuseth in co-driver change for Pirelli Carlisle

-

Frontrunning DMACK British Rally Championship Junior Sindre Furuseth is hoping a switch of co-driver for the Pirelli Carlisle Rally will keep him up front.

The Norwegian shocked onlookers in the BRC opener – the Mid Wales Stages – by finishing a narrow second after a close battle with Gus Greensmith.

Furuseth pilots a Renault Twingo, which is deemed unfavourable compared to Opel/vauxhall Adam and Ford Fiesta R2T, but Furuseth proved otherwise on the opening counter. Now he’ll be joined by Roger Eilertsen in the co-driver’s seat.

“Of course that is not an ideal situation,” said Furuseth about the change. “But Roger is very experienced and we have known each other for some years now, and he knows how we like to do things. Our preparations for the rally so far have been very promising.”

When asked whether he thought he could challenge Greensmith – who also missed the previous round, the Circuit of Ireland – he said: “I do actually. We know from last year that we are struggling with traction on our Twingo when it’s wet and slippery, like the conditions in Wales. If we see some dry conditions in Carlisle I hope we can push our Twingo to the limits and keep the same distance to Gus, but swapping positions.”
