Trio of winners but Fewtrell is happiest Ford MSA Formula

- By Stephen Lickorish

Alex Quinn, Sennan Fielding and Max Fewtrell shared the spoils at Donington, but it was Fewtrell who was happiest after claiming the points lead.

Despite his lack of experience, and a hailstorm just before the start of the opener, Fortec’s Quinn made a good start from pole and led Arden’s Luis Leeds and Fewtrell.

But just as Quinn was coming under increasing pressure, the red flag was thrown with Patrik Matthiesen off at Coppice.

Jamie Caroline could have featured after a remarkable opening lap during which he climbed from 15th to sixth. But his progress was shortlived as he went off at Redgate on lap two and finished eighth.

JHR’S Fielding started on pole for the middle race and led throughout despite a safety car, winning from Carlin duo Petru Florescu and Fewtrell.

“I thought ‘oh no’ when the safety car came out but I managed to nail the restart,” Fielding enthused.

Fewtrell rounded off a strong weekend with his maiden victory in the finale, holding off Leeds and Ross Martin.

“I knew I needed to make a good start,” said Fewtrell, “and when I did I wanted the race to end as soon as it started [to secure his first win].”
