2016/17 FE calendar delayed by date gaps
Confirmation of Formula E’s 2016/17 calendar was delayed last week as the FIA seeks further clarity around the provisional dates.
The FIA was due to review and sign off Formula E’s draft calendar during its World Motor Sport Council meeting in Turin, Italy, last week. A draft 11-race schedule was due to be discussed, but it is understood that the FIA had concerns over the gaps in the early stages of the calendar.
An FIA spokesperson said: “The calendar was not rejected and a provisional list of races will be issued shortly. The calendar is being finalised and needs some more clarity.
“Some additional time is needed to issue the actual calendar and this should be completed shortly.”
FE has a deal in place to begin its third season in Hong Kong on October 9, with a second round on November 12 before a three-month gap to Buenos Aires on February 18.
