Button ‘amazed’ by Mclaren’s performance

-

Jenson Button was “amazed” at the performance of his Mclaren in the Austrian Grand Prix as he finished in sixth position.

The 2009 F1 champion secured the best grid position for Mclaren since reuniting with Honda last season as he lined up third. Button was then able to grab second at the start, as Nico Hulkenberg made a slow getaway, and held the position for several laps before dropping back.

“All the cars that finished in front of us are much quicker, so I’m amazed that we kept them behind at the start of the race,” he said. “That’s definitely as good as it was going to get.

“All in all a great weekend for the team, but more importantly fighting up the front was good as well.”
