Fifth HSF Team event raises £60,000
The fifth Henry Surtees Foundation Team Karting Challenge event took place at Brooklands last Tuesday and is estimated to have raised £60,000 for the charity.
Thirty-two teams took part in the two-hour karting race, which was won by the Team Titan squad of Martin O’neil, his sons Jack O’neil and Andy O’neil, and Owen Jenman. A Racing Steps Foundation team including Jack Harvey, Jake Dennis and Ben Barnicoat was a lap further back in second.
During the interval a number of historic cars took part in a parade, including David Brabham in a BT11/19 that his father used as a development car for his 1966-championship winning year. Derek Bell also drove a Surtees TS14 F1 car from 1973 and John Surtees was in a Lola T70 that commemorated 50 years since he won the inaugural Can-am championship.
