Fifth HSF Team event raises £60,000

The fifth Henry Sur­tees Foun­da­tion Team Kart­ing Chal­lenge event took place at Brook­lands last Tues­day and is es­ti­mated to have raised £60,000 for the char­ity.

Thirty-two teams took part in the two-hour kart­ing race, which was won by the Team Ti­tan squad of Martin O’neil, his sons Jack O’neil and Andy O’neil, and Owen Jen­man. A Rac­ing Steps Foun­da­tion team in­clud­ing Jack Har­vey, Jake Dennis and Ben Bar­ni­coat was a lap fur­ther back in sec­ond.

Dur­ing the in­ter­val a num­ber of his­toric cars took part in a pa­rade, in­clud­ing David Brab­ham in a BT11/19 that his father used as a de­vel­op­ment car for his 1966-cham­pi­onship win­ning year. Derek Bell also drove a Sur­tees TS14 F1 car from 1973 and John Sur­tees was in a Lola T70 that com­mem­o­rated 50 years since he won the inau­gu­ral Can-am cham­pi­onship.
