Newsham to return to the British Touring Car Championship for a one-off

-

Race winner Dave Newsham will return to the British Touring Car Championship at Knockhill this weekend at the wheel of a Power Maxed Racing Chevrolet Cruze.

The Welsh-born Scotlandbased racer, who stepped down from the series at the start of this year to tackle rallycross for PMR instead, will deputise for the squad’s regular racer Kelvin Fletcher, whose wife is expecting a child.

Newsham said: “The BTCC has always held a special place in my heart, and when the team approached me to stand in for Kelvin, I couldn’t get the word ‘yes’ out fast enough.”

Newsham raced for Power Maxed last season and finished 16th in the standings with a best race result of two fourth places. He won at the Fife venue in 2012 at the wheel of an ES Racing Vauxhall Vectra.

Team boss Adam Weaver said: “We’re delighted to have kept working with Dave and when we knew we had to find a stand in, there was no discussion, Dave was the man for the job.”
