Carrera Cup could get a new team influx
Porsche Carrera Cup GB bosses are in talks with six potential new teams.
Last month MN reported that 2015 Le Mans winner Nick Tandy’s JTR squad is planning to bring three cars to the class in 2017, and Porsche GB motorsport manager James Macnaughton says more teams could join the grid. “There’s plenty of interest from other teams and we’re in talks with half a dozen,” he said. “Some of those potential entrants run the Cayman elsewhere and are thinking of entering while others are looking at 2018 instead of ’17.
“It shows the strength of the championship now. Teams are approaching us and it makes sense with how strong GT racing is and the level of our series.”
