FORD GALAXIE

Even today – during a time in which cars are getting bigger – Ford’s Galaxie looks gargantuan. The sevenlitre V8 arrived in the British Saloon Car Championship, as the BTCC was then known, in 1963. Jack Sears won on the car’s debut at Silverstone and went on to take his second drivers’ crown. Jaguar’s time as the tin-top pacesetter, which stretched back to before the BTCC had even begun, was over. American V8 power would largely dominate for the next decade.
