Update penalty
Honda is planning to bring an engine update to Sepang, and is prepared to take a penalty to do so. Honda has three development tokens left this year, but both Jenson Button and Fernando Alonso have used up their allocations of spare engines and ancillaries. Honda F1 head Yusuke Hasegawa said: “We had a new engine in Spa, but we need to introduce one more engine. It could be Malaysia or Japan or the USA, but we don’t want a penalty at Japan so Malaysia makes sense. I don’t think I’ll be allowed to walk into the circuit in Japan if we take a penalty there!”
