Clio squads partner for Junior campaign

Renault UK Clio Cup outfits 20Ten Racing and Team Pyro will enter a partnership to run multiple cars in the new Clio Junior series next season.

Team Pyro is the most successful current team in the main Clio series but team principal Mark Hunt doesn’t want a full Junior campaign to distract from the senior bid. 20Ten Racing will run the cars with engineering help from Pyro.

The 20Ten team boss Simon Hunt said: “Mark wants to concentrate on the main series. He suggested would I be interested in doing Juniors with him. To work with him would be great.

“We are going to transport and maintain the cars and Mark is going to try and get the drivers on board and engineer the cars at race weekends.” ● Renault will hold a ‘sampler’ day for drivers looking to enter the Clio Cup Junior next year on October 30 at Blyton Park. The category is for 14- to 17-year-olds and prospective racers will have to pay running costs to teams.
