Motor Sport News - - Have your say -

The sport has decided it doesn’t want spectators. The rally fans have decided they don’t want the sport as it has become.

The message has gone out that spectators are only allowed in official “spectator areas”.

Unless there are permanent barriers, spectator areas (see Blue Book E 2.4) must be 60 metres from the track, not on corners and if anyone strays outside these designated areas the event has to be stopped.

Rally fans became fans precisely because they could get close to the action, spattered by mud and stones, and sometimes even drag cars out of a ditch.

Without that rawness, why would you bother? Martin Shaw Via email
