Lance Stroll took a hat-trick of wins in the FIA F3 European Championsh­ip at Hockenheim on a weekend when Brits starred. Newly crowned champion Stroll survived a clash with Prema team-mate Maximilian Gunther to win race one, before dominating the other two outings. A handful of home-grown drivers made their Euro F3 debuts, with Lando Norris, Jake Hughes and Daniel Ticktum joining Carlin. Norris set strong practice times, but had to start the races from the pitlane due to his ongoing F3 testing programme. He retired from race one after a collision but took two 16th places afterwards. Hughes was punted out of race one, but regrouped to finish fourth and third. Ticktum’s best finish was 14th… BMW driver Marco Wittmann secured his second DTM crown with a fourth place in race two at Hockenheim. Main rival Edoardo Mortara won the race for Audi, having put in a stunning drive to third in the opener to keep his slim chances alive. Miguel Molina (Audi) won race one from Wittmann… Twotime DTM champion Timo Scheider, 37, has announced he will step down from the series after this year. Scheider, who won in 2008 and ’09, has spent 17 seasons in the DTM. He did say he was keen to do some World Rallycross… Kevin Harvick secured his spot in the NASCAR Chase for the Sprint Cup with victory in Kansas. The Stewart-haas driver led 74 of the 267 laps to beat Carl Edwards and Joey Logano…
