Lance Stroll took a hat-trick of wins in the FIA F3 Euro­pean Cham­pi­onship at Hock­en­heim on a week­end when Brits starred. Newly crowned cham­pion Stroll sur­vived a clash with Prema team-mate Max­i­m­il­ian Gun­ther to win race one, be­fore dom­i­nat­ing the other two out­ings. A hand­ful of home-grown driv­ers made their Euro F3 de­buts, with Lando Nor­ris, Jake Hughes and Daniel Tick­tum join­ing Car­lin. Nor­ris set strong prac­tice times, but had to start the races from the pit­lane due to his on­go­ing F3 test­ing pro­gramme. He re­tired from race one after a col­li­sion but took two 16th places after­wards. Hughes was punted out of race one, but re­grouped to fin­ish fourth and third. Tick­tum’s best fin­ish was 14th… BMW driver Marco Wittmann se­cured his sec­ond DTM crown with a fourth place in race two at Hock­en­heim. Main ri­val Edoardo Mor­tara won the race for Audi, hav­ing put in a stun­ning drive to third in the opener to keep his slim chances alive. Miguel Molina (Audi) won race one from Wittmann… Twotime DTM cham­pion Timo Schei­der, 37, has an­nounced he will step down from the se­ries after this year. Schei­der, who won in 2008 and ’09, has spent 17 sea­sons in the DTM. He did say he was keen to do some World Rallycross… Kevin Har­vick se­cured his spot in the NASCAR Chase for the Sprint Cup with vic­tory in Kansas. The Stewart-haas driver led 74 of the 267 laps to beat Carl Ed­wards and Joey Logano…
