Bladon wins Daytona race outing from Sunoco 200 Challenge

-

Mini Challenge Cooper Class champion Max Bladon has won this year’s Sunoco 200 Challenge contest.

His only remaining rival, Steve Burgess, failed to score the points he needed to win in the Radical Challenge, allowing Bladon to triumph on his average points tally, despite still having one Mini round to go. He will now get to race a Ford Mustang in the support race to the Daytona 24 Hours in January.

“It’s an unbelievable opportunity but one we didn’t set out to achieve at the start of the year,” he said. “It’s going to be a big step transitioning from the front-wheel-drive Mini to a rear-wheel-drive Mustang with a lot more power. I’m only two years out of karts where the philosophy is similar, so hopefully I can apply some of that thinking.”
