Armstrong bags DMACK prize runs

-

Jon Armstrong has praised Drive DMACK Fiesta Trophy organisers for a successful change of format to the series for this season.

Armstrong, who was crowned DDFT Rookie champion in Salou last week, won the final pair of WRC2 prize drives after collecting more points than anybody across Rally Germany and Rally Spain. The Northern Irishman, Osian Pryce and Max Vatanen are the big DDFT winners this season, with each of them taking two outings in a Ford Fiesta R5.

Previously, DDFT has been winner-takes-all.

“This format works really well,” said Armstrong. “Osian had his problems here and if he’d not finished, he would have lost everything, but as it is, he has two drives like we do. It’s a really fair way of doing it.”

Armstrong will now work to secure more funding to try to gain four-wheel-drive experience before his WRC2 outings next season.

“It’d be good to get out on some rallies in an R5 car,” he said. “But really, to have these two drives secure is just fantastic news for me! We drove with a plan this week and it all worked.”
