ROWLEDGE GETS DS 3 R5 FOR BTRDA

-

Former BTRDA competitor Kevin Rowledge will return to the BTRDA after obtaining a Citroen DS 3 R5.

Rowledge’s last season in the BTRDA was 2013 in a Subaru Impreza, but the driver will return to action with the Challenger Stages at Bovington on November 20 before he competes in next year’s gravel series.

“I took three years out to put my kids through karting so they’ve done the British championship and things like that,” explained Rowledge. “The oldest one has stopped and the youngest is going to do ad hoc weekends.

“I’ve lined up a few single venues to get back into it, my oldest [Zak] is 14 so he can navigate for me on single venues. It won’t be bad for him to sit in a DS 3 R5!”

The DS 3 will be prepared by Melvyn Evans Motorsport, which recently purchased a car for Melvyn Evans.

Rowledge plans to also compete in Ireland with the car, where the DS 3 has won events in the hands of Craig Breen and Keith Cronin.

“I’m going to have an assault on Ireland with Melvyn Evans running the car, and then we’ll drop back into the BTRDA and have some fun on gravel too,” added Rowledge.

“We’ll compete on occasions in Ireland, we’ll have a good go. It’s proper rallying over there. The Citroen is a proper R5 car. I knew it was coming so I’ve been training a lot.

“I heard that they’re a young man’s car, you really have to take them by the scuff of the neck!”
