Mark Burndred

Rally recovery expert Mark Burndred sadly passed earlier this month.

Mark crewed the ‘Difflock 8’ recovery truck and he regularly provided his services to stage rallies across the UK as well as the British Cross Country Championship.

The truck was named Katy after the nickname of Kaz Jenkins, who was recovered by it on multiple occasions after rally retirements.

Despite usually meeting crews just after they’d put their car in the trees or broken something expensive, Mark was a very popular figure in motorsport. BCCC team Insanity Racing summed him up: “Mark wasn’t just Difflock 8. He wasn’t just recovery. He was one of our community and, more so, we counted him as a friend. He will be missed.”
