BTRDA champion Vardy joins Francis
BTRDA B10 champions Bob Vardy and Simon John Rogers will compete on this year’s Wales Rally GB National Rally in their Ford Fiesta R200.
Vardy debuted the R200 upgrade – which involves a throttle body revamp – before the penultimate round of the BTRDA, and will now enter GB national to gain experience.
“I’m not going to chase times or anything, the goal is to go and finish the event and enjoy it,” said Vardy, from Chesterfield. “I don’t want to crawl around at the back: a decent finish would be a result. I’ll push like every BTRDA round we’ve done, hopefully it will work. We’re getting more confidence in the car and with Simon [co-driver] and the pace is coming more each event. We’re not testing or anything like that as we’re on a budget and a test is the price of an event.”
Vardy could also return to the Motorsport News Circuit Rally Championship’s Rockingham round in December, which he competed in last year. It was Vardy’s and Rogers’ first event together.
