The Williams driver finished in seventh place, which wasn’t bad, and drove half an excellent race and was on target to be best of the rest. But his head dropped after losing a position to Sainz and he made a meal of trying to get back past, which backed him into Alonso, who mugged him. Harsh, especially given Alonso’s forceful move, but a valuable fifth place was there for the taking.
