The TF Sport team is preparing for its most demanding season yet next year, combining a twopronged assault on the British GT Championship with a maiden appearance at the Le Mans 24 Hours.

Tom Ferrier’s team has become the first to register cars for the British GT3 division for 2017, with Derek Johnston and Jonathan Adam returning to defend their title in their Aston Martin Vantage GT3. Former British GT champion Jon Barnes will also return in the sister car alongside Mark Farmer.

TF will also be granted an entry into the GTE Am class of the Le Mans 24 Hours for the first time as part of its prize for clinching the GT3 Le Mans Cup title at Estoril last weekend with Euan Hankey and Salih Yoluc.

Ferrier said: “Next season will be huge for us, and even bigger than expected now we have a Le Mans entry. It’s always been our goal to race at Le Mans, and to have it already teed up for next year, for such a young team, is amazing.

“British GT next season is a big programme as we’ll have two crews going head-to-head for the title. This year was Derek and Jonny’s, but Jon and Mark have learnt a lot and see success for themselves. Juggling two cars going for the championship will be a nice challenge to have.

“Defending the GT3 title will be tougher next year. The new class structure [which opens GT3 to more amateur drivers] will bring in more cars and variety, and having more cars on the grid will mean any mistakes are punished more.

“We’ve also had some initial conversations about potentially running a third Vantage in British GT3.”

The line-up of the squad’s Le Mans entry is yet to be confirmed. Adam could feature in the line-up should he not be on duty for the works Aston Martin Racing squad at the event, as he was this year.

TF Sport will become the fifth team to split a full-time British GT3 campaign with a Le Mans 24 Hours programme, following efforts from Team Modena, CRS Racing, AF Corse and Beechdean AMR.
