DTM’S three manufactur­ers, Audi, Mercedes and BMW, could drop from eight cars to six for next season, Motorsport News’s sister title Autosport has learned. Although nothing has been decided for certain, such a move could pave the way for another brand to enter the series… Renault has decided to end its onemake Sports Trophy series after just two seasons. The category is for the French manufactur­er’s RS01 model and the cars will continue to race in GT series… Joey Logano took victory in the NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Talladega last weekend. Logano won a largely uneventful race despite picking up a penalty in the early stages after completing a lap with the front jack attached to his car following his first stop. A late-race caution meant Brian Scott and Denny Hamlin closed up but he was able to keep them at bay. The result means Logano and Hamlin will be joined by Jimmie Johnson, Matt Kenseth, Kyle Busch, Kevin Harvick and Carl Edwards in the Round of 8…
