DTM’S three man­u­fac­tur­ers, Audi, Mercedes and BMW, could drop from eight cars to six for next sea­son, Mo­tor­sport News’s sis­ter ti­tle Au­tosport has learned. Al­though noth­ing has been de­cided for cer­tain, such a move could pave the way for an­other brand to en­ter the series… Re­nault has de­cided to end its one­make Sports Tro­phy series after just two sea­sons. The cat­e­gory is for the French man­u­fac­turer’s RS01 model and the cars will con­tinue to race in GT series… Joey Logano took vic­tory in the NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Tal­ladega last week­end. Logano won a largely un­event­ful race de­spite pick­ing up a penalty in the early stages after com­plet­ing a lap with the front jack at­tached to his car fol­low­ing his first stop. A late-race cau­tion meant Brian Scott and Denny Ham­lin closed up but he was able to keep them at bay. The re­sult means Logano and Ham­lin will be joined by Jim­mie John­son, Matt Kenseth, Kyle Busch, Kevin Har­vick and Carl Ed­wards in the Round of 8…
