Ticktum in for F3 Trophy races
Dan Ticktum will make his first appearance in single-seater competition in the UK in over a year this weekend in the BRDC British Formula 3 Championship Autumn Trophy at Snetterton with Double R Racing.
The Brit was handed a year-long ban by the MSA last September for deliberately crashing into Ricky Collard during an MSA Formula race at Silverstone. He has tested Double R’s Fia-spec F3 car considerably this year in private tests – for which a race licence is not required – and made his competitive return to racing in the European F3 finale at Hockenheim earlier this month with Carlin, scoring a best finish of 13th.
The 17-year-old last week received clearance to race at Macau after satisfying requirements of the FIA, which had monitored him over the Hockenheim weekend.
Ticktum will now contest the Autumn Trophy as part of his preparations for the Macau Grand Prix event, which he will also contest with Double R. He will be part of a multi-car assault on the event for Double R, although any team-mates were yet to be confirmed as MN went to press.
