One-make trucks series in pipeline

-

Truck Sport UK is developing a prototype for a new one-make truck racing series, with the aim of inaugurating a brand-new championship for 2018.

The company, which promotes the British Truck Racing Championship, is eyeing a launch for the new series next July at Donington Park alongside a scheduled BTRC meeting, before a second event at Brands Hatch. A full season will then follow a year later.

The prototype itself, which will be based on an as-yetunconfirmed existing make of truck, is scheduled to begin testing at the end of the year and will be subject to far more regulatory control, including engine power and chassis set-up, than current models in the BTRC.

The proposed one-make championship could also use a new race format, whereby the race would be suspended behind a pace truck at half-distance, with an allocation of points, before the race resumes for a second period.
