The Aus­trian firm has funded the con­cept with a view to the fu­ture.

“This project is very spe­cial. It po­larises the mo­tor­sport com­mu­nity mas­sively be­cause of the ‘no en­gine noise’ topic,” said Stohl.

“But, even this is pos­i­tive from my point of view. As a re­sult, peo­ple dis­cuss, ar­gue and think about not only elec­tric mo­bil­ity, but mo­bil­ity in its en­tirety. This is the only way we can find the re­ally best so­lu­tions for the fu­ture.”

Volk­swa­gen ex­pressed an in­ter­est in the use of EV tech­nol­ogy in ral­ly­cross ear­lier this year.

The only EV cat­e­gory in any sim­i­lar dis­ci­pline is the An­dros Tro­phy Ice Rac­ing sup­port ‘Elec­trique’ cat­e­gory.
